Hi Alex,

It's solved, but I'm not sure why. I can't really remember how this was supposed to work, but I moved the second "leave this line alone" line to the end.

Best,

Frank

Hello Frank,

I added an image to one of the base-class units (Raider), that screwed up the unit-grid page (via the ListPage module & template "contents" etc)… Sorry for that!

I am not entirely sure how to correct this, but I'm sure it's somehow bound to this contents break ==== or the {$content2 off} or whatever. Before I'll start "experimenting" to find the solution, I thought I'd ask you, since you might solve this in 30sec :-)

Thanks!

Alex

Screwed Grid by AleonymousAleonymous, 08 Sep 2013 17:48

Hello Frank

Just letting you know that it was netnazgul who did the modification in the gamepedia site. No good news of the wiki-supporting community expanding…

Hello Frank,

Interesting. I was away/offline for about 10 days, so I asked somebody at the forums (Tirean and netnazgul) to keep a note of the winner of the 28-Jul-ending Tourney (and his elo/games/wins stats). Seems like they did! An unregistered user did the modification, so I can't tell for sure if it was one of them; gonna ask tho.

Its not really a big deal to keep updating both sites, so I'll probably keep up doing both. The gamepedia one has more stats recorded, but who cares? When the 2nd tourney phase (post saga-release) starts, we might re-work the wikidot presentation format.

Cheers,

Alex

Hi Alex,

Looks like others stepped up to keep the gamepedia tourney page up-to-date this week: http://bannersaga.gamepedia.com/Tournament
So, I figure it's safe to not update the wikidot page (since the records are being kept somewhere). Anyway, that's what I'm going to continue doing. :)

Best,

Frank

Gamepedia — Actually its just me there, after Gud set-up the site. I've ran through most of the pages and corrected/added small bits here and there. But, for the portions that were not initially created or that need big changes/additions, I didn't try to do anything. Gud said he'd try "merging" the content from here to there; when, I do not know. Only on one occasion, where I had a browser/site related issue, did this GameWidow come up with a solution (it was some font-link-colors) — http://bannersaga.gamepedia.com/Talk:Main_Page . Nowadays, I just drop in to update the tourney champ, as I do in wikidot :)

See you!

As far as visits to the site go, they've fallen from 50-100/day in March through May to 10-20/day now. Currently, the wikia still tops search results

Yeah, whenever I look at the gamepedia's recent changes, it's 90% spam/10% you. :)

Yeah, it can surely be annoying, if it gets frequent and/or persistent. But, on the bright side, it might mean that the site is getting visibility and so it attracted the spammers/bots! I've registered to the gamepedia wiki too, which seems to be getting many more attacks, average 1 per day, I'd say.

Heh. I used the admin page to ban that user (it's under Members).

I've seen the old Wikidot hands complaining about a different kind of spam the service is faced with: spam sites that bots create because the service and hosting are free. That must be an annoying problem to have.

Spam attack? by AleonymousAleonymous, 09 Jul 2013 21:16

Hi Alex,

Yeah, I like it, quite fancy. I think the text size is fine. It fits into the space on the front page, too, so why not?

Best,

Frank

Hello Frank,

I came up with the following idea to spice-up the random-unit box:

http://bannersaga.wikidot.com/scratch:59

Do you like it any, or is it starting to get too "bloated"? I used some relative-spacing to get the three images to overlap nicely. I can do another pic with the cross-spears "lowered" a little more, so that they who thing take up less vertical-space. The "Random-unit" text perhaps needs to be a little smaller too…

Cross-Spears @ Random-Unit by AleonymousAleonymous, 08 Jul 2013 21:59

OK, I put the name0banners on the unit-grid-page too, below the infoboxes. Editted the "predend" pages too, to do it, of course.

I made the banners a little narrower (230-to-180px) and I changed the height to 420-to-480px, to get them well-spaced. Adjust it if you find it too much.

Alex

Re: Banners with unit-names by AleonymousAleonymous, 06 Jul 2013 16:02

On the grid page, you could adjust

height:420px

(in four places) to make them fit. Or, yeah, the relative placement thing, though that may prove to be hard inside a table.

Re: Banners with unit-names by FranknarfFranknarf, 06 Jul 2013 15:35

OK, I fixed Raider, Backbiter and Archer banners, for better contrast.

Yeah, something's happened to the unit-grid. I added the unit-listbox and some white-space at the bottom at some point; do you think that cause this?

I tried to place the banners there too, but they "fall" kinda badly (i.e. too close to the upper/lower unit). Perhaps some relative placement, over of the portrait (top or bottom), like what you did in the maps page?

Alex

Re: Banners with unit-names by AleonymousAleonymous, 06 Jul 2013 15:31

Hi Alex,

Looks fine to me. The raider's is a little hard to read, though (dark text and dark background); and also, to a lesser extent, the backbiter's.

On another note: I saw at the unit grid page that the spacing has changed (?), and now it looks like the linked names are partially cut off by the images below them. Anyway, you could use the banners there, too, right?

Best,

Frank

Re: Banners with unit-names by FranknarfFranknarf, 06 Jul 2013 15:03

Frank,

I uploaded the banners (set of three, for each unit: Red, Beige & Custom), and added them in the:

  • random-unit page — Can't decide if top or bottom is best. Its on-top now, but there's an awkward margin…
  • unit:_template page — Placed them here too, on top of the infobox.

What do you think? I used the "custom" (per-unit) colored-banners. We can change to any of the three variations by editing the above pages and changing the filename.

Alex

Sure. Those sound like good ideas to me. —Frank

Frank,

You might have noticed that I've been around doing small changes here-and-there, particularly retouching this Units page.

I think that some stuff about builds, promotion, re-statting etc (naturally fitting in a "Proving Grounds" page) could be placed here. Perhaps we can make a section called "Proving Grounds" inside the Units-page? Also, this image-map of the "in-battle isometric units" could go here too…
